So what is it and is it just hype?
Bootlegger started in 2020 as we partnered and received freshly dumped bourbon barrels from the best distilleries in Kentucky. We hired a priest, put on our fanciest duds and married a sweet smelling coffee bean and rustic (still hungover from the night before) bourbon barrel. Love brewed hot and months later Bootlegger- Bourbon Barrel Aged Coffee entered our lives.
So what’s the big deal?
Only barrels aging bourbon for a minimum of seven years are used. Next only barrels that are freshly dumped within the last 10 days are selected when the coffee is introduced. Coffee beans naturally absorb their surroundings, and our proprietary process extracts not only what’s on the interior surface of the charred barrel but what’s inside the staves. Finally we wait for the authentic aroma, mouthfeel, and finish of Bootlegger to fully incorporate into our coffee. When this small batch becomes available a few times a year, give it a try.
